Mass and heat transfer - PDF Free Download

These books are used by students of top universities, institutes and colleges. The book gives the most relevant, comprehensive, and readable information about the physical origins of mass and heat transfer and is recommended for students who are looking for factual information on the subject. While there is emphasis on the original fundamentals as found in the previous editions, the highlight of this revised edition is the inclusion of new application areas of heat transfer. Through this book, readers will learn about the physical principles of heat transfer, the methods of computing heat transfer rates and material temperatures, the phenomena behind any process or system that involves heat transfer, and the application of concepts to real processes and systems. The chapters in the book provide valuable insights on the principles of conduction, convection, boiling and condensation, heat exchangers, radiation, and diffusion mass transfer.

About this book

This textbook presents the classical treatment of the problems of heat transfer in an exhaustive manner with due emphasis on understanding of the physics of the problems. This emphasis is especially visible in the chapters on convective heat transfer. Emphasis is laid on the solution of steady and unsteady two-dimensional heat conduction problems. Another special feature of the book is a chapter on introduction to design of heat exchangers and their illustrative design problems. A simple and understandable treatment of gaseous radiation has been presented. A special chapter on flat plate solar air heater has been incorporated that covers thermo-hydraulic modeling and simulation. The chapter on mass transfer has been written looking specifically at the needs of the students of mechanical engineering.
